This is the Debian package for angband, and it was built from sources
obtained from: http://rephial.org/downloads/3.0/

Angband is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it
under the terms of either the GNU General Public License as published
by the Free Software Foundation, version 2, or the "Angband licence",
shown below, with some exceptions:

 * At the time of release, code written by the following individuals is only
available under the Angband licence; the brackets after their name indicate
the code which is not clean as a result:

   - Prfnoff (character death menu, customizable player races, player history,
              and shop owners)
   - Chris Ang (various 2.5.x bits of code which I believe the game is
                still derivative of)

   - Ron Anderson (Mac port)
   - Ross E Becker (Windows port)
   - Kieron Dunbar (X11 copy and paste support)
   - Torbjorn Lindgren (XAW port)
   - Denis Eropkin (X11+XAW support code)

Any information on the contact details for these people, whether online or
otherwise, would be much appreciated. Note that as a result of these
remaining restrictions, the game itself is not quite GPL-clean.

 * The SDL runtime libraries (if provided with your copy of the game) are under
   the following licence:

The Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL for short) is a cross-platfrom library
designed to make it easy to write multi-media software, such as games and
     emulators.

The Simple DirectMedia Layer library source code is available from:
     http://www.libsdl.org/

This library is distributed under the terms of the GNU LGPL license:
     http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/lesser.html

 * Adam Bolt's (16x16) graphics may be redistributed and used for any purpose,
   with or without modification.

 * David Gervais' (32x32) graphics may be redistributed and used but only
not-for-profit, and may only be distributed over the Internet.

 * the sounds are freeware, whatever that means.

 * the font files are under the licences noted in lib/xtra/font/copying.txt.

It is considered good practice to retain this statement for derivatives, rather
than (e.g.) redistributing Adam Bolt's tiles under the GPL, or choosing to make
a variant which is only under one of the Angband or GPL licences. This allows
easier sharing of changes between variants.

are included in all such copies. Other copyrights may also apply.

The fonts in this directory are either public domain or have been included
with the kind permission of the author(s). This file contains copyright notices
for the non-public domain fonts.

Each font is listed below and followed by the authors name and/or a number.
The number refers to the numbered licences below.

Thanks to Simon Tatham, author of "dewinfont", which made it much easier to
extract font information. <http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/fonts/>
Also, thanks for his "mkwinfont" program, which made it possible to automate
conversion of the old DOS fonts to the .fon format.

 Software in this distribution of the X Window System is covered by copyrights;
see the file LABELS in this directory for a list.

The MIT distribution of the X Window System is publicly available, but is NOT
in the public domain. The difference is that copyrights granting rights for
unrestricted use and redistribution have been placed on all of the software to
identify its authors. You are allowed and encouraged to take this software and
 build commercial products.

Individuals or organizations wishing to contribute software to the public
releases should use a copyright notice that is no more restrictive than
the sample given below. In particular,

o Do not place any restictions on what can be done with this software
(this includes using the GNU "copyleft").

o Do not include the words "All rights reserved" unless you have had a
lawyer verify that you have also explicitly given away all of the
necessary rights shown in the samples.

o Spell out the word "Copyright"; the phrase "(c)" is NOT a legal
    alternative to the c-in-circle symbol.

o Put at least a one-line copyright at the top of EVERY source file, if
not the full copyright. Also, the copyright line or full notice MUST
physically appear in each file. Using the preprocessor to #include the
copyright from some other file has no legal meaning (it can be used to
incorporate common strings into the binary, but has no effect on the
    status of the source code).

o Things that are copyrighted are, by definition, not in the public
    domain.

A copyright notice similar to the following is strongly recommended (replacing
MIT with your organization's name and putting your name and address at the
 bottom).
